About Us

The Crater Rim Ltd is a family-owned winery situated in the rolling hills of Waipara, in the South Island of New Zealand.  We grow, make and market limited quantities of terroir-specific wines produced from our own two vineyards and contracted sites in the Canterbury sub-regions of Waipara, Omihi and Banks Peninsula and in Central Otago.  Aside from our still wine production we also produce Methode Traditionelle in house.

The Role

We are looking for a Cellar Hand to join our small winery team.  This is a full-time permanent position.  During the regular season the role will consist of general cellar hand duties including helping on the bottling line when required.  During the Harvest period you will be required to help supervise and train the vintage cellar hands.

About You:

• Previous winery experience preferable, but not essential
• Motivated to work in the wine industry and a willingness to learn
• Enjoys being part of a team
• Strong practical and technical ability and good learning agility; being open to new ideas
• Has some leadership skills and eager to develop more
• Forklift experience an advantage, but not essential
• Ability to work flexible and longer work hours such as nights and/or weekends during the harvest period

Only applicants that are NZ residents or that are legally entitled to work in New Zealand on a permanent basis will be accepted. This is not suitable for working holiday or sponsorship visas holders.
