The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, is looking for an enthusiastic Food and Beverage Manager with a passion for hospitality to lead our front of house team & champion our events.
Our ideal candidate has a positive and can do attitude, is thoughtful, punctual, professional and level-headed. The person in this role will have demonstrated ability to lead their team from the front and have great people management and communication skills.
Flexibility is key, we are looking for someone with a hotel background, who has experience in ala carte and functions and are used to working in multiple different outlets at the same time, whilst providing exceptional service standards is paramount.
This role will be responsible for:
- Delivering a world-class Front of House experience to all Members and Guests.
- Leading by example and guides and counsels all Food & Beverage wait and event staff.
- Monitors and respond to all member and guest feedback as appropriate.
- Attending regular FOBE Management Meetings, ensuring open communication and promoting teamwork throughout the ROBE function.
- Anticipate client needs; ensure ownership and accountability within the Front of House team to manage all aspects of Front of House from initial welcome until guest leave.
- Ensure event facilities are prepared, presented well by their team, and meets or exceeds customers’ requirements.
- To manage all event clients with professionalism and efficiency and take all reasonable steps to ensure that all events are delivered in a manner which is consistent with the agreed event plan, at the agreed timings and in the agreed format.
- Ensure that the weekly functions & events action plan is delivered.
- To maximise revenues from member and non-member events and aim to exceed annual budget targets through delivering great outcomes for Member and Guest clients.
- Create and assist with the delivery of a broad range of member and non-member events.
Person Specifications – Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum 4 years’ experience in Front of House operations including the management of staff.
- Sound understanding of Food and Beverage Laws, and their application in a club, on and off-license setting.
- Exceptional organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- People Management experience.
- Roster and Budget Management experience
- A “can do” attitude with a strong customer service orientation, be self- motivated and comfortable working in a constructive and supportive, fast-paced, contentious environment with limited supervision.
- Exceptional Front of House Management skills.
- Understanding of drivers of engagement.
- Displays a strong appreciation for accuracy and attention to detail.
- Great communication and presentation skills.
- Conflict negotiation skills.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with a methodical, strategic outlook.
- Responds well to pressure, and can lead a team under pressure.
- Be well presented with a professional manner.
- Be persuasive and diplomatic.
- Be flexible, works well in a team.
- Shows initiative.
- An interest or knowledge of yachting world would be a plus.
Please note this role requires both weekend and evening work - and the successful applicant must be able to work both weekends and evenings as required. We can offer fixed days off or flexible work patterns to suit the right candidate.
