Awatere River Wine Company is located in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley producing premium Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Methode sparkling wine from our vineyards.
Awatere River Wine Company is part of Booster Wine Group, which is a collection of NZ wineries including Gravity Cellars, Bannock Brae and Sileni Wines. We are looking for a passionate, capable, hardworking Senior Cellar Hand to join our small team here at Awatere River Winery.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person with at least 4 years or 8-10 vintages of cellar experience. Applicants will require sound attention to detail, strong interpersonal and team skills, motivation, initiative, and the stamina required to be effective in a busy environment.
This role will be 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday. Weekend work and longer hours will be required during the vintage period.
Pay bracket is $28-$31 an hour, experience dependent.
This is a hands-on role for someone wanting to step-up to a Senior Cellar Hand role with more responsibility. The role would include supervision of a shift during vintage, as well as assisting the cellar master and cellar manager with training and supervision throughout the year. This role would also include general cellar work. You should understand Health and Safety requirements, wine quality and food safety considerations, be a practical problem solver, be able to complete tasks on time to a high standard and have good written and verbal communication skills.

The Senior Cellar hand position will grow as the company expands and the role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to be part of a close-knit, friendly team who are dedicated to producing quality wines. We offer a broad range of winery experiences including small-lot, hand-picked vineyard parcels, as well as the opportunity to be working closely with new technologies such as Continuous flotation & Omnia filtration. Transport to and from Blenheim to Awatere valley is provided.
