Our 130ha Blind River Vineyard is located 5.6km south of Seddon, the Leading Hand will assist the Vineyard Manager in all aspects of running and maintaining the vineyard.  You will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal functioning of the vineyard and the effective supervision of the vineyard staff.

Reporting to the Vineyard Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and training staff in all aspects of vineyard operations

  • Lead a high performing team of Vineyard Operators. Creating an environment of continuous improvement in all areas of the workplace

  • Overseeing seasonal labour workforces

  • Ensure all health & safety procedures are implemented and a culture of safe work practices is part of all operations.

  • Contribute to the innovation and continuous improvement in all viticulture operations and practices

  • Maintain vineyard assets including machinery, irrigation, trellis, vineyard plants. 

  • Assist with harvest and frost fighting duties

The successful applicant will:

  • Have at least 3 years vineyard operator experience

  • Be a senior tractor operator with enthusiasm for working in a mechanical hands-on role

  • Take pride in your work with a good eye for detail

  • Be motivated to succeed and thrive working in a high-performance culture delivering high-quality outcomes

  • Actively seek ways to improve systems and processes to create efficiencies 

  • Naturally earn respect for your interpersonal skills and the way you engage with other staff and contractors

  • Be flexible, have excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn and be part of a strong cohesive team

  • Growsafe certified

  • A clean Class 1 valid driver’s licence

  • Based in Marlborough, or in a position to relocate, with unrestricted working rights within NZ
